Japan Chapter Wins Ethics Award
Congratulations to the Japan Chapter, which won the 2011 Ethics Awareness Month Award for its unique approach to ethics awareness. The chapter held an Ethics Awareness Month Open Session jointly with the Non-Life Insurance Institute of Japan. Guest speaker Katsuo Matsushita, special advisor of the Geneva Association, spoke on the role of ethics in avoiding another financial crisis. After Matsushita's presentation, Akira Yoshida, CPCU, a Japan Chapter member who received his CPCU designation in 2009, explained the outline of CPCU exams and introduced the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct. Then Shiro Kiyohara, CPCU, a chapter member who also earned his CPCU designation in 2009, shared his experience of taking CPCU exams with the audience. Popham Wins Richard A. Gerrond Memorial Award
The CPCU-Loman Education Foundation presented the sixth annual Richard A. Gerrond Memorial Award to Todd Popham, CPCU, CLU, FLMI, on April 15 at the Leadership Summit. The award was created in memory of Richard A. Gerrond, CPCU, CIC, ASLI, a dedicated instructor and CPCU Society governor, who passed away in January 2005. Popham, zone strategy manager for State Farm’s Mid-Atlantic Zone, was honored for his continuing leadership excellence. Among his activities, he volunteered to assist in designing and reviewing leadership course materials, helped to develop the original “Emotional Intelligence” program and delivered the “Inspiring Leadership that Builds Shared Vision” course at this year’s Summit.
Five Chapters Win Membership Achievement Awards
Chapters with the most successful 2011 membership campaigns were recognized at the Leadership Summit. Awards and certificates were presented to the chapters that achieved the highest percentage of total paid membership, the highest percentage of paid 2010 new designees and the greatest increase in candidate membership. The Nebraska Chapter won two awards. The Charlotte, Presque Isle, Rhode Island and South Florida Chapters each won one award. Read more about the winning chapters (doc).
