Leadership Council
2012 - 2013 Leadership Council
The CPCU Society Leadership Council is comprised of elected officers, elected or appointed council members, and ex-officio members, and has responsibility for defining CPCU Society policies and monitoring administration of the CPCU Society. The Leadership Council meets at least twice a year, at the CPCU Society Leadership Summit and the Annual Meeting and Seminars.

David S. Medvidofsky, CPCU, CIC, ARM, AIAF, AAI, CRM, is vice president and head of the audit unit for The Main Street America Group, a Jacksonville-based super regional insurer in Florida. During his career, he has worked on the agency and company sides, and has held staff and line positions in underwriting, marketing, product development, operations and finance. Medvidofsky has been an active CPCU Society member at the local and Society levels, and recently served as a member of the Society’s Board of Directors. His industry activities also have included providing insurance course instruction, assuming industry volunteer leadership positions and writing for industry trade publications. |

Cynthia A. Baroway, CPCU, M.Ed., AIC, is a faculty member in the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program at the University of Colorado–Denver School of Business. Previously, she was a home office claims director for Safeco. She is also a past president of the CPCU Society Colorado Chapter and has held various other chapter offices and Society committee positions. |

Nancy D. Adams, CPCU, J.D., is a partner in the Litigation Section of Mintz Levin, Boston. She is an active member of the firm's Insurance/Reinsurance Group, Insurance/Bankruptcy Group, and Product Liability and Complex Tort Litigation Group. She is a past president of the CPCU Society Boston Chapter, has served as a governor for the Society's Northeast Region and is a member of its Coverage, Litigators, Educators & Witnesses Interest Group. She earned her B.A. from Trinity University and her J.D. from Boston College. |

Jane M. Wahl, CPCU, CSSBB, CMQ/OE, CLU, CQIA, FLMI is a process manager in State Farm's Jacksonville, Florida office. Wahl earned her CPCU designation in 1992. She also holds the CLU, FMLI, CMQ-OE, and CQIA designations and is an ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt. She has served as a Society Governor as well as a member of the Budget and Finance Committee, various task forces and in chapter leadership. A jacksonville native, she is the chairman of Duval Prepares, Duval County's PreDisaster Mitigation program and a founding member of the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes. Wahl also serves on the Board of the University of FLorida's Smathers Library. |

Brian P. Savko, CPCU, CLU, ChFC, MSFS, FLMI, is a team manager in State Farm’s Murfreesboro, Tenn. office. Savko, who has served as the Society’s Secretary/Treasurer since 2008-2009, is serving his final year. He has been a member of the Society’s Budget and Finance Committee since 1999, and has served as president, vice president and secretary of the Society's Mid-Tennessee Chapter. He holds a master’s degree in financial services from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Savko is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and is a Knights of Columbus volunteer. |

Steve McElhiney, CPCU, MBA, ARe, AIAF, is president of EWI Risk Services, Inc., a reinsurance intermediary based in Dallas and a subsidiary of NL Industries Inc. He is also president of Tall Pines Insurance Company of Vermont. Over the last two decades his experience includes service with Fireman’s Fund, TIG Specialty, Overseas Partners US Reinsurance Group and Argonaut Group. He is author of Reinsurance Commutations, a required reading for the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation. McElhiney holds an MBA and Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from the University of Southern California. He serves as a board member of North America’s SuperCorridor Coalition Inc., and is a member of the Leadership Council of the Texas Health Research and Education Institute. |

Kevin H. Brown, Esq., CAE, is senior vice president and executive director, Society for The Institutes. He works closely with the CPCU Society Leadership Council, Chapter Leaders and Governors to align Society initiatives with their strategic association goals. Before joining The Institutes in 2012, Brown worked as the chief operating officer of the National Apartment Association. With more than 11 years of association experience, he is an innovative and passionate leader, with a successful record of member recruitment and retention. Additionally, he has 19 years of experience serving the insurance industry in various roles at CIGNA, including as a property-casualty claim supervisor and as senior director of legal and public affairs for the company’s field litigation office. Brown holds a law degree from Quinnipiac University and is a member of the Maryland and D.C. bar associations. He also holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. |
